NKR band has New Kind of Rhythm

first_imgWebsiteWebsiteWebsite WebsiteWebsiteWebsite WebsiteWebsiteWebsite A new three-man band called ‘N.K.R’ is determined to take Ladysmith by storm with their raunchy reggae and rock music. When a Gazette journalist asked band members Yashdeer Singh, Vikshay Ramdaas and Vishekh Ramdaas why they decided to call the band ‘N.K.R’, this is what they had to say…“N.K.R for two reasons: firstly, because it’s the town reference for Ladysmith and all three of us are from here; and secondly, the letters could also stand for New Kind of Rhythm, which lets everyone know what we want our music to be”.The band aims to provide original music ranging from reggae right up to rock, and everything in-between. Starting from humble beginnings, they hope to soon be playing some of the biggest venues in the country, as well as internationally. At the moment, the band are in the process of recording their debut EP (Extended Play album), which will be released to coincide with a matinee tour in the upcoming months. The band have already released two singles, namely ‘Fly Away’ and ‘Last Days’. The former started out as a reggae song, but slowly transformed itself into a pop song; while the latter is more of a “rocky” song, as well as being their favourite. These singles can be found on their Facebook page.“We are determined to make Ladysmith proud and to entertain people. Any comment or suggestion would be helpful and appreciated,” says Yasheer.Their CD will be released at the end of this month (March). We are sure that these are their “last days” of obscurity and that their “new kind of rhythm” will “fly away” into the realms of success!last_img read more
