first_imgChristy Toye never considered retiring from inter-county football despite the heart-breaking All-Ireland final defeat to Kerry.Donegal GAA star Christy Toye has admitted retirement never once crossed him mind at the end of last season. Toye believes that as long as he and the manager feels he can continue to contribute, he’ll play away.Toye rolled back the years with a superb performance in Donegal’s win over Derry on Saturday night. His early season form has been impressive and he enjoyed a wonderful campaign for Donegal last season after illness forced him to miss the 2013 season.Toye says it’s a great honour to play in a Donegal jersey and he appreciates every minute of it.Toye said, “Someone asked me recently about retiring, but it’s never crossed my mind.“As long as I feel that I am contributing and the manager feels that I am contributing, I will play away. “It’s a great honour to run out in a Donegal jersey and it is not one that everyone gets.“I will appreciate every minute of it, I feel in good shape and the league is important for your fitness and is a great way to build momentum ahead of the championship.“When you get older it takes longer to recover, but I feel I’m in good nick.Looking forward to Donegal’s clash with Dublin at the weekend, Toye said Dublin will be seeking looking for a bit of revenge.“We knocked them out last year so of course they’ll be looking to set the record straight, but we’ll focus on ourselves and if we play like we did in the second-half against Derry we’ll be OK. “I NEVER CONSIDERED RETIREMENT FROM DONEGAL” – CHRISTY TOYE was last modified: February 3rd, 2015 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:Christy ToyeGAAnewsSportSt Michaelslast_img read more
