If you think tourism is up in Bend, pay close attention to how busy it will get with the recommendation from The New York Times that listed 52 places from all over the world including Bend as best vacation destinations stating: Untrammeled oases beckon, once-avoided destinations become must-sees and familiar cities offer new reasons to visit. Visit Bend has been doing its job exceedingly well.Each January the editors of the travel section of the Times publish a list of recommended vacation spots by contacting dozens of contributing writers with their ideas. They aim for a selection of places that they expect to be particularly compelling in the coming year such as a museum opening, a new transportation option or a historical anniversary.
